Nature
There is a huge variety of wild
flowers, insects, lizards,
butterflies and birds to be seen in
our garden whichis an LPO refuge the
surrounding countryside which makes
Les Hirrondelles a nature lovers
dream. You can watch buzzards
circling lazily and see orchids
growing wild in the fields. From the
garden there are also stunning views
across open countryside to the Sancy
mountains.

Walking
and Hiking - there
are several marked paths
from your doorstep at Chabanol
and lots more in the surrounding
area.
Mountain
Biking - there are
many exciting and challenging
mountain biking routes for
you to explore in the region.
Horse
Riding - there are
a number of equestrian centres
offering various types of
riding experience.

activities - mountain
climbing, hot air ballooning
over the national parks,
parascending, swimming,
angling, canoeing, quad
biking and even field archery
are all available close
by. Also within driving
distance are thermal baths
and spas which offer beauty
treatments all year round.

Autumn
/ Winter
Skiing
- during the winter, the
Auvergne becomes a paradise
for skiing (cross country
and downhill) as it boasts
two international standard
ski resorts (approx 1 hours
drive from Chabanol).

and Festivals -
strongly recommended is the
Roi de L'Oiseau festival in
September, when the whole
town of Puy en Velay re-enacts
its renaissance past and the
festival of music at la
chaise-Dieu in August
French Resistance History -
In the surrounding region
you can visit 3 museums -
Chamalières, Mont Mouchet
and Frugières-les-Pins -
which focus on the French
Resistance in World War 2.
Also in August there is an
annual parade & ceremony to
mark the Battle of Chamèane,
a battle of resistance
against Nazis, which took
place 2 km from St Etienne
sur Usson. You can also
visit the graveyard
memorials of the resistance
fighters at St Etienne sur
Usson.

Nature
On peut observer une grande variété de fleurs, insectes, lézards, papillons et oiseaux dans notre jardin qui est un refuge LPO, faisant des “Hirondelles” un endroit rêvé pour les amoureux de la nature.
Vous pourrez observer les busards et admirer les orchidées sauvages dans les champs. Depuis le jardin, la vue est dégagée jusqu’au Sancy. |

L'Automne
/ L'Hiver
Le
ski - en hiver, l'Auvergne se transforme en paradis pour les skieurs (ski alpin ou ski de fond) car elle possède deux stations de niveau international à 1 heure en voiture de Chabanol.

et Festivals - Nous vous recommandons vivement le festival du Roi L'Oiseau en septembre au du Puy en Veley et le Festival de Musique de la Chaise-Dieu en août. |
